This time of year is kind of interesting.
Two major holidays, Easter and Passover, happening at the same time and both rooted in reflection, renewal, and starting fresh.
Now… for a lot of people, Easter is about chocolate, baskets, and brunch. And Passover is about matzo and trying to remember how many days you’re not supposed to eat bread. But underneath all of that, there’s actually some pretty powerful meaning.
Passover commemorates freedom. It’s about breaking out of something that held you back. Leaving what’s familiar, even if it’s uncomfortable, to step into something better.
Easter is about renewal. A reset. A reminder that even after the darkest moments, there’s still a way forward.
Fun fact, the Easter Bunny actually comes from German folklore, the “Osterhase.” Originally, it wasn’t the fluffy bunny version. It was more like a judgey rabbit deciding whether kids deserved eggs or not. So basically, Santa, but with more hopping and less patience.
Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox.
Yes… it’s basically scheduled by the moon. Which explains why no one can ever remember when it is.
Because freedom and renewal aren’t just historical ideas. They’re choices we get to make, over and over again. Every day.
Sometimes it’s not a big, dramatic change. Sometimes it’s just deciding to think differently, act differently, or show up differently than you did yesterday.
That’s where it starts.
Fresh perspective. Small shifts. New energy. A better version of you.
So during this time of renewal and reflection, I hope you continue creating the best version of yourself. I know I am.
And maybe… a little chocolate.
